Erdene has made a long-term commitment to Mongolia owing to its highly prospective geology, its diversity of exploration targets and its location on the doorstep of China. Our management team was among the early mineral exploration entrants into the country and has since built up an extensive Mongolian database, knowledge base and network of contacts.

Erdene’s Historical & Current Metals Exploration in Mongolia (1996 to present)

Since 2009, Erdene has been carrying out a detailed regional evaluation of a large area in south-western Mongolia, evaluating the potential for porphyry related copper-gold-molybdenum mineralization. The 2009 program covered an area of approximately 35,000 square kilometres and included interpretation of Landsat data, a regional-scale stream sediment geochemical survey, geological prospecting and a rock-chip geochemical sampling program. This work has resulted in the identification of a number of new copper-gold-molybdenum porphyry targets. The 2010 metals exploration program focused on evaluating newly acquired exploration licenses, follow-up of anomalous results from the 2009 regional exploration program and field evaluation of an expanded 2010 regional porphyry evaluation program. Multiple new targets were generated in the process and are receiving further work.
